Beyblade – A new ‘Spin’ on an Old Toy!

Spinning tops was popular pastime for kids ever since the ancient times. Most of our fathers and grandfathers have spent hours spinning tops on different surfaces. But the popularity of the toy waned in the later half of the 20th century across the world. Beyblade brought it back in a new avatar!

The game is played like a board game, but not just any board game. Like a fun filled, action-packed version of the traditional board game. You would need to have your own Beyblade spinning toy (which is similar in function with the old spiing toys). The toy tops would collide with each other and the one to keep standing would be the winner. Sounds like gladiator wars, right? Well, that is exactly what this is! So, if you are a young man just looking for some thrill, or an old guy trying to relive your childhood days, then Beyblade is just the right toy for you.

The Story Behind Beyblade

So, where did Beyblade come from? Well, Beyblade is a Japanese toy, that was first made in 1999. The toys were originally developed by Takara and then finally made by Tomy. From the first day onwards, Beyblade had customizable and interchangeable parts. This is something that has made the toys so popular in Japan as well as across the world.

The word ‘Beyblade’ or more specifically just the ‘Bey’ part is inspired from the word ‘Beigoma’, which is a traditional spinning top from Japan.

Today, there are many different types of Beyblades available on the market. They can be categorized into the following:

  • Attack/Striker: These Beyblades tend to attack other Beyblades. They battle fiercely and try to knock out the other Beyblade as quickly as they can.
  • Defense/Defender: These Beyblades specialize in knocking back the attacks from other Beyblades. They are heavier than other types.
  • Stamina/Endurance: These Beyblades have a good deal of‘stamina’. They are used so they can out-spin the enemy Bey and win.
  • Balance/Combination: These Beyblades have a combination of the other three types.

So, buy the right Beyblade and get ready to battle it out!
